How do you advertise your local business?
We all know Rockhampton doesn’t have a daily local newspaper anymore. It’s been a while since the Bulletin stopped publishing on real paper, and most people I know don’t read the online version because we can get our news from Facebook.
๐ป Most people I know also don’t listen to the local radio. Because we don’t like ads. And because we can tune in to Spotify and listen to the songs and artists we like, rather than to a random radio mix and a series of ads we have no control over.
๐บ Most people I know also don’t watch normal TV anymore. I mean, I don’t. And you know why? Because I don’t like ads. I don’t like watching a one hour show that breaks every 4 minutes to play you 2 minutes of ads. Instead, I’ll watch my favourite shows on Netflix or Stan or some other streaming platform that doesn’t show me endless, repetitive, annoying ads.
๐ So, if you take away the local newspaper, and you take away radio and normal tv… how else do you advertise your local business?
๐ฅ Social Media ๐ฅ

๐ 16 million Australians are using Facebook each month – this is 66% of the Aussie population!
๐ 10 million Aussies are using Instagram, which is 40 of the entire population!
