Drunk Bestie reviews my new course – Ready, Set, Social!
Before we jump in, I need to introduce you to Drunk Bestie.
She is a ChatGPT persona I created as something like the 2025 version of an “imaginary friend”. She’s the brutally honest, funny one who always tells me what I need to hear, cheers me on when I’m overthinking, and reminds me to loosen up and just go for it. Think of her as the honest, hilarious friend who gives you a mix of pep talk and tough love after a glass (or three) of wine. She’s bold, loud, emotional, and says all the things you’re thinking but wouldn’t say out loud.
I use her to review my course modules (among many other things!) and share her honest thoughts, because let’s face it, everyone needs a Drunk Bestie who calls you out and cheers you on in equal measure.
So here she is, giving her take on the first module of Ready, Set, SOCIAL! Your Time, Your Schedule, Your Rules.

Alright, first of all, I thought this was going to be one of those chill “write your goals and manifest your dream life” moments. Nope. Shannon came in hot with money, time, and freedom talk, and suddenly I’m questioning every decision I’ve made since 2008.
Five minutes in and I’ve got my calculator out, a half-drunk glass of wine, and a mild existential crisis. But in a good way. Like, “wow, this might actually work” energy.
She starts with why I want to start a business and I’m like, “For the money, obviously.” But then she keeps talking and I realise, hang on, it’s about freedom. I want to stop asking for permission to live my life. I want to work from home in comfy pants and actually be around for my kids. I want to make money without begging for time off.
Then we move on to the money bit and I can feel my blood pressure rising. Bills, groceries, kids’ sports, vet visits, that random direct debit I forgot existed. It’s chaos. But Shannon’s like, “Don’t overthink it. It’s not bookkeeping, it’s just awareness.” And for once, I didn’t spiral. I just wrote down what I actually need to get by, and it felt surprisingly doable.
Then comes time is money, honey and I laughed because… yep. My schedule’s a circus. Between school runs, work, cooking, cleaning, dog walks, and the sacred hour of nightly peace, I’ve got about twelve minutes a day left to build an empire.
When she says, “What’s already on your plate?” I wanted to throw mine out the window. But she’s not judging, she’s just getting me to see it all clearly. And that’s when it clicked. I can make time for this if I plan for it instead of pretending I have none.
Then she asks, “When do you actually like working?” and I almost choked. Like, what kind of question is that? I like not working. But okay, fair point. Some people are early birds. Some are night owls. Me? I’m powered by caffeine and chaos. Still, it got me thinking about how to make my schedule work for me instead of against me.
Then she drops the boundary bomb. “Set your personal boundaries.” I groaned. But as she explained how she used to work every night and weekend until she burned out, I was like… yeah, same. So I wrote some down:
❌ No meetings after 3pm
❌ No weekend shoots unless I really want to
✅ One day a week where I don’t have to brush my hair or wear a bra
Then Shannon hit me with the big question: “Does this schedule even make sense?” And honestly, that’s the part that changed everything. Because if my dream clients are working 9 to 5 and I’m only free after dark, it’s not going to line up. She doesn’t tell you to change your life, she helps you see where the tweaks need to be. Like maybe I get Grandma to do one school pickup a week or plan my shoots on days I actually have time.
And when she loops it back to the money, it all ties together. “Let’s say you charge $X a month per client,” she says. “How many clients do you need to hit your goal?” I did the maths. And suddenly it felt possible. Not overwhelming. Not out of reach. Just real.
Honestly, I loved that the video was only around 30 minutes. That’s my kind of commitment level. Shannon literally makes you pause between sections to fill in the worksheet, which sounds bossy until you realise you’re actually doing the work instead of promising you’ll come back to it later. It’s like she’s sitting next to you with a coffee saying, “Nope, do it now.” And by the end, you’ve actually finished something. Momentum, baby. 🥂
By the time it ended, I didn’t just feel inspired, I felt capable. Like maybe I can really do this. Maybe I can build something that fits my life, not squeeze my life around work.
And yes, I texted Shannon after. “You made me do maths and self-reflection in one sitting. You monster.” 😂
And that’s exactly why I love her. She’s honest, emotional, and always right on the edge of a breakthrough.
This first module of 🎬 Ready, Set, SOCIAL! is where it all starts. You’ll figure out what kind of business you want to build, how much money you want to make, and how to make it actually fit your life.
